Accel-backed 99designs buys 12designer from Grupo Intercom
Online graphic design market-place 99designs, backed by Accel Partners, has bought Berlin-based creative market-place 12designer, owned by Spanish venture capital firm Grupo Intercom.
Accel led a $35m series-A funding round for Melbourne-based 99designs last year, planning to grow the company internationally.
The acquisition extends the range of services 99designs offers and gives the firm a base in Berlin.

Grupo Intercom backed 12designer in 2009 to drive its international expansion.

Founded in 2008 and based in Berlin, 12designer is a market-place for crowd-sourced design services. The site allows users to source customised logos, print and website designs, slogans, naming and other creative design services from a network of more than 20,000 professionals across Europe. The firm has offices in Berlin and San Francisco.

Antonio González Barros is president of Grupo Intercom. Eva Missling is the founder of 12designer and has been appointed general manager for Europe at 99designs.
