Pfleiderer AG (Germany) - Jan 2008

One Equity Partners has acquired 15.02% of the shares of wood products company Pfleiderer AG, listed on the MDAX in early January 2008, making One Equity Partner the largest single stakeholder. At that point, the company’s total number of shares amounted to 53,326,100, and the price per share moved between €12-15. According to the investor, One Equity Partner does not intend to submit a voluntary takeover bid, but intends to participate in Pfleiderer as a core investor. Several funds own the majority of the business, with the Pfleiderer family still holding a 10.3% stake.

Pfleiderer AG is a supplier of engineered wood, surface finished products and laminate flooring and partners with the furniture industry and specialist outlets. With around 6,000 employees and production sites in Western Europe, Eastern Europe and North America, the Pfleiderer Group posted revenues exceeding €1.4bn in the fiscal year 2006. Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization came to around €208m. By internationalising its business operations, Pfleiderer expects to further increase its non-German based revenue, currently contributing around 70.6% to the group.
