PE-backed GetYourGuide acquires IGottaGuide

IGottaGuide's services will be discontinued and its offering fully merged with GetYourGuide. GetYourGuide is aiming to strengthen its North American position through the acquisition.

It is the second acquistion for the Zurich-based business this year, after it bought Berlin-based Gidsy, an online market platform for travellers, in April.

HCP and Spark Capital invested $14m in tour-booking company GetYourGuide in January this year.

IGottaGuide was founded in 2011 and is based in New York. It seeks to connect tourists with amateur and professional guides via its internet platform.

People
Johannes Reck is the CEO and founder of GetYourGuide. Fergal Mullen sits on GetYourGuide's board and is managing partner at Highland Capital Partners' Europe fund. Keith Petri and Michael Griffiths are IGottaGuide's co-founders and will remain advisers to the business.
