HTGF backs Kukimi's seed round
High-Tech Gründerfonds (HTGF), Seedcamp, Atlantic Labs and other investors have backed a seven-digit seed round for Kukimi, a German diet programme.
Valessa Tech, NewBorn Capital and business angels also participated in the round.
HTGF invested in Kukimi because it believes in the relevance of diet programmes – according to the firm, 48% of men and 31% of women in Germany are currently overweight.
The fresh capital will be used for marketing, further development of the product and for expansion into other countries. Kukimi stated it might develop beyond diet food in the future.
Company
Berlin-based startup Kukimi was founded in 2014 and sells ready-to-eat diet meals. The products are cooked with a vacuum-cooking technique that allows for preparation and preservation without using additives or preservatives.
People
Laurent Kaestli and Daniel Verst are the founders of Kukimi. Chiara Sommer is an investment manager at HTGF.
