Sigma leads $2.6m round for Codeship
Sigma Prime Ventures has led a $2.6m funding round for Codeship, an Austrian provider of continuous integration and deployment as software-as-a-service (SaaS).
Boston Seed Capital and Fidelity Investments' private investment arm, Devonshire Investors, also took part in the round.
The fresh capital will be used to establish Codeship's US base, which will be located in Boston. The company will also employ seven new staff – three to head up the new Boston office and the remainder to be based in the company's Vienna headquarters.
The company is believed to have raised around $300,000 in February 2013 from a syndicate of angel investors and Rothenberg Ventures.
Company
Founded in 2011, Codeship is headquartered in Vienna, with a US base in Boston soon to open. The company currently employs six staff.
Codeship has developed a SaaS platform for continuous integration and deployment, which is designed to allow companies to alter their online software without having to manually release the update.
The company's offering provides an alternative to companies having to set up their own Jenkins server, which is an open-source continuous integration tool written in Java. The premise behind Codeship's SaaS product is to simplify and speed up automatic software deployment for its customers.
People
Moritz Plassnig is the CEO and founder of Codeship. Sigma partner John Simon worked on the deal for the firm and will take up a seat on the company's board of directors.
