Waterland buys SENIOcare from Akina
Waterland has bought Swiss long-term care group SENIOcare in an SBO from Akina.
The GP is also currently in talks with Blackstone, Cinven and Pamplona over the sale of its Dutch portfolio business Intertrust Group.
Previous funding
Akina bought its majority stake in SENIOcare in late 2007. Since then, the business increased its number of nursing homes from 17 to 26 and doubled its turnover. The GP also reorganised the company and added senior healthcare experts to the board, as well as a new management team.
Company
Founded as a family business in Wattwil, Switzerland, in 1983, SENIOcare provides long-term care for the elderly. The business runs 26 nursing homes across Switzerland, with a workforce of 1,000 people and a patient base of around 1,000. The business is expected to achieve a turnover of about CHF 100m in 2012.
