PAI Partners has sold passenger and cargo-handling aviation service Swissport International to Chinese company HNA Group, the owner of Hainan airlines, for CHF 2.7bn.
A trade sale was not PAI's only exit option, with the GP also mooting the possibility of listing Swissport on the stock market.
PAI bought Swissport from Ferrovial for €654m in November 2010. The company has since then expanded its business into Latin America, the Middle East and Africa. During the investment period, Swissport bought ground handling operators Flightcare and Servisair as well as Latin-America-based Inter Airport Service.

Swissport was founded in 1996 and is based in Opfikon, Switzerland. The company is a provider of ground handling and cargo transport services.
