
HTGF backs laser scanner p3d in seed round
High-Tech Gründerfonds (HTGF) has backed laser scanner manufacturer p3d Systems in a seed financing round.
Innovationsstarter Fonds Hamburg, a subsidiary of development bank Hamburgischen Investitions- und Förderbank, also invested alongside HTGF.
This is the latest in a series of investments for HTGF in laser solution providers. The German venture firm has invested in optical components test equipment manufacturer Uceo Technologies, micro-cooling systems provider IQ Evolution, manufacturer of laser diode drivers Picolas, laser-based endoscopic and microscopic measuring systems manufacturer Scopis and developer of spectroscopic gas sensors PAS-Analytik.
Other laser solution providers backed by the Bonn-based VC include laser and light systems provider GME German Medical Engeneering, and laser and automation equipment manufacturer Notion Systems.

Hamburg-based p3d is a spinout from Leibniz University in Hannover.
The firm developed a portable, kinematic laser scanning system to capture 3D models of physical objects as 3D point clouds. p3d exhibited its products at Intergeo, a trade fair for geodesy, geoinformation and land management, for the first time in 2012.
