Callista acquires Poppe Ahrensbök
Callista Private Equity has fully acquired Poppe Ahrensbök, a German manufacturer of rubber and plastic products.
Following the acquisition, the company will go back to being called Globus Gummiwerke, its name before it was acquired by Giessen-based Poppe in 1994. The corporate parent intends to increase focus on its core business and thus divested the company within a structured process for a seven-digit purchase price.
Callista plans to focus on the stabilisation of the operative business and on sustainable expansion. The GP hopes the company will break even in the current fiscal year.
Callista made headlines after investing in shipping company Deilmann in early 2014, which then went into administration less than a year after the investor bought the assets. According to Manager Magazin, Callista earned around €500,000 in management fees before the insolvency administrator took over.
Company
Founded in 1911 and based in Ahrensbök, Poppe is a manufacturer of rubber and plastic products. Its elastomer products are used for automotive, aerosol and packaging applications. The company has 230 employees and generates revenues of €32m – it should be reaching break-even in the current fiscal year.
