Wellington Partners has sold its stake in Giga Digital Television GmbH to Premiere AG. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed. Other stakeholders included Cuneo AG, Atlas Ventures and NBC Universal.
Giga Digital Television GmbH is a broadcaster of gaming programmes, providing 24-hour coverage of games, e-sports and lifestyle through television and streaming through the internet. It is based in Cologne.
The transaction was led by Jörg Überla for Wellington Partners and worked closely with venture partner and CEO of Cuneo AG, Michael Wölfle, a former board member of ProSieben.
Previous funding
In 2006, Wellington Partners funded a Series A round for Giga TV through its WP III Tech fund (May 2006, page 20). A series B round followed in October 2006, providing a further €5.5m to the company.
