
HTGF backs NovaPump in series-A funding
High-Tech Gründerfonds has invested in medical company NovaPump as part of a series-A funding round.
The capital will be used to develop a catheter-based procedure for heart and biventricular support, which is planned to be approved as medical equipment in 2015.
HTGF invested €1m in a series-A funding round in medical engineering company GME alongside BayBG and Bayern Kapital in April. In March this year, the German venture capital house invested in a joint €2.6m series-B funding round in Transcatheter Technologies, a developer of transcatheter heart valve technology.
HTGF currently has 51 medical engineering companies in its portfolio.

NovaPump was founded in 2012 and is based in Jena, Thuringia. The company researches in the field of interventional cardiology, and is currently developing a new pump catheter that incorporates a special ventilation system.
NovaPump works alongside the Jena University Hospital's Clinic for Internal Medicine and the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Optics and Precision Engineering.
