
DeliveryHero attracts a further €40m
Berlin-based online food delivery firm DeliveryHero has raised €40m from new investor Kite Ventures and existing backers.
The fresh capital will support the firm's international expansion into new markets, with a focus on acquisitions.
The capital injection comes months after Vitruvian Partners led a $64m funding round for DeliveryHero's main competitor Just-Eat.
Previous funding
The fresh capital injection brings total equity investments in the company to €80m in the past 21 months. Previous funding rounds have included investments from Ru-Net, Tengelmann Ventures, Kite Ventures, Holtzbrinck Ventures, Point Nine Capital and Team Europe.
Company
Berlin-based DeliveryHero, known as Hungryhouse in the UK, was founded in 2010. The firm brings together food ordering sites on its online platform and operates in Sweden, Finland, Poland, Austria the UK and Germany. DeliveryHero has grown through acquisitions this year, with the purchase of Finnish Pizza-online.fi and OnlinePizza Norden Group.
The company employs 400 members of staff globally, 250 of which are based in Berlin.
