NextStage, MI3 invest €17.7m in Bagatelle
Euronext Paris-listed private equity firm NextStage has acquired a minority stake in New York-based restaurants operator Bagatelle, alongside MI3, an investment company.
NextStage invested €11.9m and MI3 invested €5.8m in Bagatelle but the business is still controlled by founders Aymeric Clemente and Remi Laba.
Bagatelle Group currently operates 10 restaurants and is planning to open 15 more in the next five years.
NextStage is an asset manager, investing in both private and listed companies. It invests tickets in the €4-40m range, either for a majority or minority stake. The GP recently invested in Atream.
Having opened its first restaurant in New York in 2008, today Bagatelle operates 'French Mediterranean-style' restaurants also in Saint-Tropez, Miami, Saint Barthelemy, Dubai, Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo, Punta del Este, Ibiza, London and Buenos Aires.
It generates revenues of circa €50m, according to the French publication Capital Finance.
