PAI-backed Yoplait sale underway
A PAI spokesperson has confirmed the upcoming start of the sale process, according to media reports.
PAI is looking to divest its 50% stake in the business, which it acquired in 2001. Dairy cooperative Sodiaal, which founded the company and owns the remainder of the shares, maintained that it was not looking to divest its stake.
Morgan Stanley and Société Générale were recently reported to be running the sale process. The French yogurt company is currently valued in the €1-1.2bn region and posted a €3.8bn turnover for 2009.
Food giant Nestlé is among the high-profile trade buyers said to be circling Yoplait; a joint bid with European dairy group Lactalis is rumoured to be a likely option for Nestlé. General Mills and Asian food groups are also among the potential bidders.
