Omnes finalises spinout, secures €70m commitment for new fund
Omnes Capital, the former private equity arm of French bank Crédit Agricole, has started raising its fourth SME-focused fund and is now wholly owned by its management team.
Omnes gained full independence at the end of last year; 12 of the team members now collectively own the management company, having bought all the shares previously held by Coller Capital. Coller had acquired the management company, along with half of Crédit Agricole's investment in the funds it manages, at the end of March 2012. The business was then rebranded as Omnes Capital.
Chairman and CEO Fabien Prévost told unquote" in May last year that the team was ultimately looking to gain control of the management company. However, Coller retains the fund stakes acquired in the original transaction.
Omnes has also announced the launch of its fourth generalist mid-cap vehicle, Omnes Croissance 4. The vehicle will be focusing on French SMEs and has already secured a €70m commitment from former parent Crédit Agricole. Omnes had raised €173m for the previous vehicle in its mid-cap generalist family in 2007 and is looking to raise around the same amount for this new fund. The GP is aiming for a first close at the start of 2014.
Further down the value scale, Omnes is in the process of launching the next fund in its small-cap family of vehicles. The GP will look to raise around €120m for this upcoming effort, mainly from high-net-worth individuals. Omnes currently invests from two €40m funds in this space, LCL Expansion and Omnes Expansion.
Meanwhile the GP's renewable energy team has also launched a new fund, Capenergie 2 Infrastructure - the €24m vehicle will co-invest alongside the €135m Capenergie 2 fund in infrastructure projects.
Finally, Omnes will soon hit the road for a second co-investment fund targeting institutional investors and focused on acquiring stakes in mid- and large-cap buyout and growth capital deals.
