Aster Capital names Hervé Touati as venture adviser

France- and US-based VC Aster Capital has appointed Hervé Touati as a venture adviser, joining from energy think-tank Rocky Mountain Institute where he is currently managing director.
Touati is the latest addition to the venture capital firm's growing team. Prior to joining Aster, he was managing director at US-based Rocky Mountain Institute. He is a former executive member of the E.ON group in charge of renewable energy.
Touati is also chair of Black Bear Energy and a member of the Bidgely, Greentech Capital Advisors and OneShore Energy advisory boards.
He will contribute to Aster's investment strategy in the US and strengthen the firm's expertise in energy by helping it identify the most promising areas, while developing its network of investors, according to managing partner Jean-Marc Bally.
The hire follows Gaëtane Suzenet's recent appointment as water technology specialist for Aster.
The firm opened its San Francisco office in 2010 and has already made a dozen deals in North America.
