
Evaneos raises $21m series-C from Serena, BPI et al.
Paris-based online travel booking platform Evaneos Travel has raised a $21m series-C supported by previous backers Isai and XAnge, alongside new investors.
Serena Capital, Fonds Ambition Numerique – managed by BPI France – Isai and XAnge participated in the funding round. This capital raised by Evaneos brings the total amount raised by the company to $28m.
The capital will enable Evaneos to finance product development and international expansion, including a US launch and future openings in the Netherlands, Denmark, and Sweden.
Evaneos is also looking to bolster its team from a current 80 employees to 200.
Previous funding
Including its series-C, the French startup has raised three VC funding rounds. Isai, which largely focusing on funding early-stage internet startups, participated in all A, B and C rounds.
After funding a first $1m round in 2012 in full, the VC was joined by XAnge in a $6m series-B round in 2014.
Company
Based in Paris and founded in 2009, Evaneos is a web platform helping travellers design, estimate the cost, and book personalised trips by connecting them with local agents, cutting out tour operators and travel agencies. It counts 650 partner agencies who operate locally in 150 countries.
Originally launched in French, the site is now available in English, Spanish, German, and Italian. Two fifths of Evaneo's turnover currently comes from international markets, the company says.
