50 Partners, Square Capital in €2.2m round for Brigad
VC firms 50 Partners and Square Capital have provided a €2.2m series-A round for Brigad, a Paris-based short-term job matching platform.
50 Partners had already taken part in a seed round for Brigad last year, and recommitted capital on this occasion. Business angel Travis Kalanick, a co-founder of Uber who was also part of the 2016 seed round, renewed his commitment as well. They were joined by new backer Square Capital.
Brigad, which is currently active in Paris, will now look to expand its offering to new locations, including Bordeaux, Lyon and London.
While the startup was hitherto focused on the hospitality sector, it said it could also open up to new sectors in the future, such as health, sales and education.
Previous funding
In August 2016, Brigad raised a first €300,000 seed round provided by 50 Partners and business angel Travis Kalanick.
Company
Founded in 2015 in Paris, French startup Brigad is an online platform linking job candidates with companies for short-term assignments. The startup sends job offers to job seekers, trying to focus on sectors where staff shortages are frequent. At the moment, Brigad specialises in the catering and hotel industries.
