Demeter, Innovacom and Kreaxi in €10m round for I-Ten
Demeter Partners, Innovacom and Kreaxi have taken part in a €10m second round of funding for microbatteries producer I-Ten.
The three GPs first invested in I-Ten in 2014, injecting €3.2m into the group.
This latest round was led by renewable energy business Eren Group, as well as by Haber Dassault Finance, the investment company of Benoît Habert, who serves as chair of Dassault Développement.
With the new round of funding, the startup will look to extend its customer base to new sectors and to recruit new talent.
Previous funding
In 2014, Demeter, Innovacom and Kreaxi led a seed round for I-Ten, injecting €3.2m. Rhône Alpes invested via its R2V fund, according to unquote" data.
The deal was the startup's first fundraise, and would be used to prepare I-Ten for the industrialisation phase of its products.
Company
Lyon-headquartered I-Ten was founded in 2011 in conjunction with ENS de Lyon and Laboratoire Interdisciplinaire Carnot de Bourgogne. The company has developed ultra-thin microbatteries, which it claims increases the energy stored in electronic circuits tenfold.
I-Ten's microbatteries are designed to be eco-friendly, as they are rechargeable, non-flammable and include neither heavy metal nor liquid electrolytes and therefore do not require specific recycling processes. The group services clients within the defence and security, health and digital sectors. It employs 15 people.
