
Ardian-backed Ionisos buys Stermed
Ardian portfolio company Ionisos has purchased French sterilisation specialist Sterm for an undisclosed sum.
The acquisition strengthens Ionisos's technological platform and expands its geographic footprint to the south of France.
Ardian acquired Ionisos from Agilitas in July 2016 in a buyout valued between €100-170m, sources told unquote" at the time.
The GP has supported Ionisos in its acquisition strategy, including the carve-out of Leoni Studer Hard in November 2016.
Ionisos was founded in 1993 and manages seven plants in France, Spain and Germany. It provides cold sterilisation using ionisation and ethylene oxide for the medical, pharmaceutical, cosmetics and food packaging sectors.

Founded in 1997, Stermed is a cold sterilisation company specialising in the health products and medical devices sectors. It is based in Civrieux d'Azergues, just outside Lyon, and has four sterilising chambers of various sizes, ranging from four to 18 pallets. The company generated a turnover of €2.3m in 2016, according to public documents.
