GA leads $60m series-B for OpenClassrooms
Global growth equity firm General Atlantic has led a $60m series-B funding round for Paris-based online education platform OpenClassrooms.
Existing investors Alven Capital, Citizen Capital and BPI France also took part in the financing.
The fresh capital will be used to accelerate the expansion of OpenClassrooms' programme offerings, corporate and government partnerships, and international presence.
The company has also been awarded a $1m grant by Google.org, the non-profit arm of Google.
GA's Chris Caulkin will join the board of OpenClassrooms as a director.
Previous funding
Alven led a €1.2m seed round for OpenClassrooms in March 2012 and followed on with another €1m investment in February 2014.
The investor also took part in the firm's series-A round in September 2016 alongside Citizen Capital and BPI France.

Founded in 2013 by Pierre Dubuc and Mathieu Nebra, OpenClassrooms is an online higher education platform. The company aims to address the changing needs for talent in an increasingly digital economy. The platform has approximately three million monthly unique users. It offers 300 proprietary certifications, and 32 bachelor's and master's level degree programmes in fields such as web and mobile development, UX design, data science, and digital marketing.
