Platina Equity Solutions backs Univet
Platina Equity Solutions has acquired a substantial minority stake in Univet, a French holding operating 19 veterinary centres.
Platina invested around €5m in a debt-free transaction. The GP could inject a further €15-25m into the business to fund a build-up strategy, most likely in France.
Christophe Navarro, founder of Univet, will retain a minority stake as well, albeit smaller than the one acquired by Platina. The remainder was acquired by veterinary surgeons working at the centres.
Platina Equity Solutions is the PE branch of Platina Partners, a UK-based asset manager, and invests from its own balance sheet. The GP invests up to €30m in businesses and has a flexible investment period.
Company
Based in Mougin, the Univet holding comprises 19 veterinary centres across France. The business generates a turnover of €10m and employs around 70 people. The holding was founded in 2018.
