
Cathay et al. in €21m series-B round for Kayrros
A consortium of historical and new investors has injected €21m into France-based Kayrros, an advanced data analytics firm for the energy sector.
The round, led by Cathay Innovation, was also backed by Index Ventures, AtlasInvest (an investment company led by Marcel van Poecke of Carlyle International Energy Partners), the Primat Family Office (Primwest), and Korelya Capital.
The latest round of funding will help develop the company's crude oil market intelligence and expand its coverage across other energy markets that include petroleum products, natural gas, and power generation.
In total Kayrros has raised €32m from all funding rounds.
Previous funding
In 2017, Index Ventures led a €9m series-A round, joined by Marcel van Poecke, a private holding company investing in the energy sector and other private energy industry investors.
Marcel van Poecke is the managing director of Carlyle International Energy Partners and chairman of AtlasInvest.

Kayrros captures and analyses data across the energy sector using innovative technologies, such as satellite imagery, natural language processing, Internet-of-Things and machine learning, in order to help energy market investors make more informed trading decisions. The business was founded in 2016.
With headquarters in Paris and offices in Houston, London, New York and Singapore, Kayrros employs 100 people.
