Amundi PE, A Plus Finance invest €12m in Crosscall
French GPs Amundi Private Equity Funds and A Plus Finance have invested €12m in France-based Crosscall, an all-weather smartphone manufacturer.
The new PE players join its existing shareholders: founder Cyril Vidal, members of the management team, BPI France and ACG Management.
Previous funding
Crosscall raised €4.5m from private equity fund ACG in 2016. The round of funding was the first instance in which Crosscall resorted to raising external funds, having been self-financed since its foundation in 2009. At the time, Crosscall said the investment was in the form of convertible bonds, with the founders and managers retaining majority stakes in the business.
The following year, BPI France invested €2m in the business.
Company
Crosscall, founded in 2009 and based in Aix-en-Provence, produces and sells waterproof smartphones with good battery life.
The business employs 130 people and posted a €52m turnover in the year ending in March 2018. It targets €80m in 2019.
