Idinvest, BPI France back Ornikar €35m series-B round
Former investor Idinvest and newcomer BPI France have injected €35m in France-based Ornikar, an online driving school.
Idinvest has led the series-B round, according to French publication Le Figaro.
Proceeds from the round will be used to expand further in Spain and Germany, and to enter Italy and the UK, according to the online publication TechCrunch. Ornikar also plans to sell more car-related products with the funding, the publications reported.
Elaia Partners and Partech Ventures first backed Ornikar with an investment of around €1m in 2014. Last year, the VCs reinvested in the startup, alongside Idinvest and Brighteye Ventures, taking part in a €10m series-A round in March.
Company
Founded in 2014 and based in Paris, Ornikar operates an online platform for candidates to learn and practice traffic laws without having to go through a physical school. The company claims it will enroll 350,000 students in 2019, against the 55,000 students it had in 2017, Le Figaro reported. The startup employs 110 people.
