BPI, Supernova in €20m series-C for logistics business Traxens
BPI France, Supernova Invest and Tokyo-listed Itochu Corporation have led a €20m series-C funding round for Marseille-based container geolocalisation business Traxens.
Supernova invested via its €50m Crédit Agricole Innovations et Territoires Fund, which is backed by Crédit Agricole and FCPI Amundi Avenir Innovation.
Traxens intends to use the fresh financing to launch a global large-scale sea-land fleet of Internet-of-Things tracking systems on vessels operated by its partner shipping companies, including CMA CGM Group and MSC. The company expects to have 100,000 dry and reefer containers equipped with this solution by the end of 2020. In addition, it plans to expand its business into new markets worldwide, with a special focus on Asia.
Previous funding
Following a capital increase financed by shipping company CMA CGM, CAAP Création (Crédit Agricole Group) and SCR Provençale et Corse (BPPC Group) in February 2015, French venture investor Tertium Investissements provided €1.5m of seed funding for Traxens in November 2015.
Company
Established in 2012 and based in Marseille, Traxens provides data analytics to manage logistics assets in transit anywhere in the world and help its customers reduce costs, optimise investments, comply with environmental regulations and improve their services. The company employs 130 staff and offers its services in 50 countries worldwide.
