A/O Proptech leads series-B round for Qarnot Computing

The latest funding round also saw participation from Banque des Territoires Caisse des Dépôts, Engie Rassembleur d'Énergies, and Groupe Casino.

According to Crunchbase, the company has raised €10.6m in funding so far. Founded in 2010, it is reportedly the first company to offer climate-conscious cloud-computing.

The fresh funding will allow the company to support its future growth, continue focusing on in-house research and development, and hire additional staff in IT and commercial roles.

Previous funding
Following an initial investment of €2m from business angels such as technology investors Avolta Partners and EIT Digital in 2014, Qarnot raised $2.7m in a series-A round in 2016 led by Colony Capital through Data4, a group specialising in data centres.

Company
Founded in 2010 in Montrouge, near Paris, Qarnot sells cloud computing capacity to clients and uses the wasted heat generated from its computer servers to heat buildings and water sustainably. Its clients include French banks BNP Paribas, Societe Generale, and Natixis. The company employs more than 30 people.
