Unigrains secures minority stake in Innatis
French agri-food investor Unigrains has acquired a minority stake in France-based apples producer Innatis.
Innatis has simultaneously acquired Domaine des Coteaux, a producer of peaches, nectarines, apricots, cherries and kiwis. Domaine des Coteau has revenues of around €30m, according to Capital Finance.
Unigrains will use its expertise as an agri-food investor to help Innatis pursue growth opportunities. In the short term, it will support the company in the construction of a new fruit station to increase productivity.
Company
Founded in 1954 and based near Angers, Innatis is a producer, packager and marketer of apples in France. The company also owns orchards, a producers' organisation called Innafruits, and packaging stations, as well as six commercial subsidiaries.
While retaining its core business, the company has diversified to produce other fruits in France and abroad; it has a presence in 55 other countries.
Innatis generates sales of roughly €130m and employs 490 people.
