PE-backed Asmodee bolts-on Board Game Arena
Pai Partners-backed board game distributor Asmodee has acquired Board Game Arena (BGA), a provider of more than 250 board games online.
In 2018, PAI Partners acquired Asmodee from Eurazeo in a €1.2bn deal, deploying equity from PAI Europe VII. Since then, the company has completed seven add-on acquisitions, including Galapagos, Bezzerwizzer, Blackfire, GoKids, Lion Rampant, Libellud, and the latest deal.
BGA said in a press release that the two companies had known each other for a long time and that the acquisition will allow Asmodee to speed up the availability of key titles on the platform. The company also said that it had recorded a 600% growth in 2020.
As with Asmodee's other acquisitions, BGA will remain an independent title, with the current management leading the company.
Company
Founded in 2010 and based in Paris, BGA provides official online versions of more than 250 tabletop games in 40 languages. It has more than five million users.
