Columna invests EUR 150m in SanteVet
Columna Capital has invested EUR 150m in SanteVet, a pet insurance platform it has majority-owned since 2017.
The company said it would use the proceeds to move into Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal and Austria, as well as accelerate growth in France, Belgium, Spain and Germany. Its goal is to insure over one million pets by 2026.
Sante Vet grew revenues 20% to EUR 100m in 2021 and is expecting further 25% growth this year.
Columna earlier bought around 70% of the share capital from Serena Capital and Idinvest, with the founders upping their stake from 25% to 30%. CEO Hugues Salord told Les Echos that the share split remains around 70/30 under the new financing.
It bought the asset from Columna Capital Fund I, which held a final close in March 2017 at EUR 95m.
Salord also told Les Echos that just 10% of the revenue is from markets outside of France, but it wants this to be more than 40% by 2026.

Headquartered in Lyon, SanteVet is one of the biggest providers of pet insurance in France. It has recently expanded into Belgium and Spain.
