Hopwork raises €1.5m from Isai et al.
Isai has injected €1.5m into French freelance online platform Hopwork alongside former Adecco CEO Jérôme Caille.
The deal will see the creation of a new management board at Hopwork formed by entrepreneurs Antoine Freysz, Olivier Occeli, Jérôme Caille and Jean-David Chamboredon.
Hopwork intends to invest the fresh capital in product innovation, with plans for internationalisation and a three-fold increase of its current turnover by 2016.
Citing the increased need for flexibility by French employers, the online platform expects the strong performance by the country's freelance market to continue in the near future, with claims of an 85% uptick between 2004-2013.
The deal is the first for Isai's Venture II fund. Launched in January 2015 with a €35m target, the vehicle raised €55m on its first close last April – exclusively from previous backers. These included 60 entrepreneurs and institutional LPs such as BPI France and Crédit Mutuel Arkéa, with the prospect of new investors coming on board by the third quarter of 2015.
Previous funding
Prior to Isai's current capital injection, Hopwork was the recipient of a €550,000 seed round from business angels Antoine Freysz and Olivier Occelli. The duo, alongside entrepreneur Marc Laurent, are founders of seed capital firm Kerala Ventures.
Company
Founded in June 2013 by entrepreneurs Vincent Huguet, Hugo Lassiège and Jean-Baptiste Lemée, Hopwork is a start-up offering companies and freelance workers an online platform to locate and network with each other.
Headquartered in Paris, the company employs 10 staff. According to market sources, its current revenue sits around the €2m mark, with claims of 30% growth on average every month.
