Jaïna and Ecomobilité back OuiCar
Jaïna Capital and Ecomobilité Ventures have invested €3m in OuiCar, the French operator of a platform for peer-to-peer car rental services.
The investment brings the total amount raised by OuiCar to €5m. Jaïna and Ecomobilité are existing investors in the company.
The fresh capital will allow OuiCar to strengthen its position in the French market and expand the company further across France.
The travel and car services industry appears to be gathering steam across Europe, with France in particular becoming more active in the space. Earlier this month, Accel Partners- and Isai-backed Comuto, the operator of French carpooling site Blablacar.com, acquired Ukraine-based Podorozhniki as part of its services launch in Ukraine and Russia.
Previous funding
Jaïna and its founder Marc Simoncini backed the establishment of OuiCar. In October 2012, Ecomobilité joined the company's shareholding with a €1.5m investment.
Company
Paris-headquartered OuiCar was originally founded in 2007 as Zilok Auto. The firm was rebranded to OuiCar in 2012. It employs 10 staff and is believed to generate revenues of €5m.
The company operates an online platform that allows users to rent out their cars, as well as search for available cars to rent. It claims to have more than 10,000 cars across France listed on its platform and a user base totalling 100,000.
