Gimv leads €9m round for Melijoe.com

Gimv has invested in the company through its Consumer 2020 platform, which provides equity tickets of €3-30m to companies with enterprise values of up to €125m.

Melijoe will use the fresh capital to finance further international growth. The company already sees 50% of its turnover generated outside of its domestic market.

Previous funding
CM-CIC Capital Privé first invested in Melijoe in August 2011, providing the company with €3.5m.

Oséo then invested €1.8m in the business in 2012. This was followed by a €1.7m investment by CM-CIC Capital Privé in May 2013, earmarked to help the company expand into Russia, the US and the Middle East.

Company
Founded in 2007 and based in Paris, Melijoe is an online retailer of children's fashion, supplying clothing from brands such as Roberto Cavalli Kids, Armani Junior, Ralph Lauren and Levi's. The company partners with 120 brands in total.

The website is available in six languages and claims to have already attracted more than 8 million visits so far this year.

Melijoe employs 40 staff.
