
VCs in €25m round for Spartoo
Existing investors, including CM-CIC Capital Privé and Highland Partners, have taken part in a €25m series-C funding round for Spartoo, an online retailer of shoes and bags.
The round was led by industrial holding Sofina and also saw contributions from previous backers A Plus Finance and Endeavour Vision.
The funding will support Spartoo's expansion across Europe.
Previous funding
In August 2006, business angels invested an initial €1.2m in the company. The following year, Spartoo raised €4.3m in equity and convertible bonds from CM-CIC, A Plus and a group of business angels. The two VCs reinvested alongside business angels in a €4.3m round in February 2008. In 2010, they were joined by Highland Capital Partners and Endeavour Vision in a €12m series-B funding round for the firm.
Company
Founded in 2006 and based in Paris, Spartoo is an online store for bags, shoes and accessories. The company offers more than 30,000 products belonging to more than 700 brands and records around 12 million unique visitors per month. The company operates in 20 countries and employs upwards of 140 staff.
Spartoo has seen its international turnover increase twentyfold in the last three years.
