Siparex injects €600,000 into Batiroc
Venture capital investor Siparex has supported French roofing and steel cladding manufacturer Batiroc with a €600,000 injection via its Rhône-Alpes regional fund.
Following the round, Batiroc will invest to enlarge its rented property portfolio, develop new products and make new hires.
Over the next few years, the business intends to strengthen its foothold in the so-called building and public works segment, which has steadily shrunk since the economic crisis. Having reportedly trebled sales over the last five years, the company will now look to grow both in France and abroad, where it claims 10% of its operations are currently based.
For the round, Siparex drew capital from its Fonds Régional d'Investissement (FRI) Rhône-Alpes, which invests in companies with headquarters in the south-eastern French region.
The investment is the second to be financed via the fund in recent times. Earlier on in the week, the VC used it during an MBO for Déchelette-Malleval, a curtain designer that also operates in the Lyon area; the business received an identical €600,000 injection from Siparex as the Malleval family bought the stake held by the co-owning Déchelette family.
At the time of the Déchelette-Malleval MBO, a source close to Siparex revealed to unquote" the vehicle had invested €12m of its total €30m via 23 deals and thus deployed 40% of its capital.
Company
Founded in 1979, Batiroc manufactures roofing and steel cladding for industrial, commercial and residential buildings. Headquartered in Feyzin, outside Lyon, the business operates production sites in the Meurthe-et-Moselle and Saône-et-Loire departments. The company employs 10 staff and most recently posted €3m in turnover.
