Meltygroup raises €10.5m from Jaina et al.
Jaina Capital and corporate AccorHotels have led a €10.5m round for French online broadcaster Meltygroup alongside several business angels and the company’s existing backers.
Jaina was joined by a number of entrepreneurs including Patricia Barbizet, CEO of holding Artémis and soon to be member of Meltygroup's advisory board.
Previous investors Serena Capital and Bouygues Telecom Initiatives took part in the deal as well. They backed previous rounds for the company, such as a €3.6m injection by Serena and Jaina founder Marc Simoncini in September 2012.
At the time, the business announced the capital would back its plans to take its broadcasting offer worldwide. By the end of 2012, Meltygroup had launched in Italy, Spain and Brazil and released print magazine for students meltyCampus and adventure sports-themed website meltyXtrem.
Having reportedly doubled its web traffic figures since 2012, Meltygroup will look to push growth in key European markets such as Spain, Italy, Germany and the UK. There are plans to bolster its sales teams to help monetise new formats such as real-time series SnapTrip and the broadcasting of Basketball University League.
