Ventech leads $4.7m round for TellMePlus
Ventech has led a $4.7m financing for French artificial intelligence specialist TellMePlus alongside fellow VCs Runa Capital, Soridec and XAnge Private Equity.
Corporate investor Sferen Innovation and several business angels also participated in the funding round.
Ventech's contribution to the round was not revealed but the VC typically deploys upwards of €2m for first-time investments.
Meanwhile, Runa invests a minimum of €1m and Soridec, a regional VC that backs startups in the Languedoc-Roussillon area, writes €100,000-3m tickets. Bought by French VC Siparex in May 2015, XAnge is an early-stage house that invests upwards of €500,000.
Following the round, TellMePlus will invest to take its integrated artificial intelligence offer to the international level. Over the next few months, the business plans to apply the technology to objects connected together in the so-called Internet of Things. As part of the changes, TellMePlus will now be headed by new CEO Benoit Gourdon, co-founder of software developer Neolane and hitherto an EMEA senior director at Adobe.
According to unquote" data, the round represents Ventech's second foray in France in recent times. In late January, the firm joined forces with local VC Idinvest during a €6.6m round for search marketing analytics startup Botify.
