Intel et al. in €10m round for Sigfox
Intel Capital has joined existing investors Elaia Partners, Partech Ventures International and iXO Private Equity in a €10m funding round for French technology company Sigfox.
Intel reportedly provided 35% of the round. iXO, Elaia and Partech invested a joint €2m in Sigfox in 2011.
The fresh capital will be used to deploy Sigfox's extra-low throughput network across France.
Company
Established in 2009, Sigfox specialises in machine-to-machine and Internet of Things communication technology. Its ultra-low throughput network uses free frequency radio bands to transmit data over a very narrow spectrum to and from connected objects.
The Toulouse-based company employs around 100 staff and generates a €2m turnover.
People
Marcos Battisti and Stéphane Goubeau represented Intel on the deal. Philippe Gire led the transaction for Elaia. iXO and Partech were represented by Jean-Luc Rivière and Jean-Marc Patouillaud respectively.
