Isai invests $5m in Sublime Skinz
Isai has invested $5m in Sublime Skinz, a France- and US-based digital advertising company.
Sublime Skinz, which had been self-financed until this funding round, will use the fresh capital to accelerate the deployment of its product worldwide, with a specific focus on the US market. The business plans to open a fourth office in New York before the end of 2015.
Isai is understood to have invested from its growth capital fund, Isai Expansion, which held a final close on €50m in 2013. The VC recently held a first close on €55m for its latest fund, Isai Venture II – ahead of its €35m target. The most recent fund is focused on internet businesses in seed stage, while the Isai Expansion vehicle focuses on larger equity tickets.
Isai stated that, depending on the pace of Sublime Skinz's development, it would potentially leverage the financing round with debt at a later stage.
Company
Established in 2012 in Paris, where it is still headquartered, Sublime Skinz develops new digital ad formats, with a specific focus on skin advertising. These wallpaper-type ads, also known as site-takeover, are designed to be less intrusive for the end-user than traditional banners and pop-up advertising.
Sublime Skinz employs a team of 30. It also operates offices in London and San Francisco.
People
Pierre Martini led the deal for Isai, assisted by Jean-François Rivassou. Jean-Marc Perricone is the president and founder of Sublime Skinz.
