Index Ventures backs Rad
Index Ventures has led a €2.5m series-A funding round for French e-commerce business Rad.
Angel investors that provided the remainder of the round included Nicolas Santi-Weil, who will be joining Rad's board, and the New York-based Vaizra Seed Fund.
The fresh capital will be used to expand the team and invest in logistics, production and marketing in preparation for a planned launch in the UK and Germany.

Launched 11 months ago by David Smadja, Anthony Serero, Simon Amzalag and Julia Serero, Paris-based Rad is an e-commerce website offering its customers fashion, art and design items. The founders initially self-funded the company.
Rad has currently almost one million users and is expecting to reach a turnover of €15m in its first fiscal year, according to company reports.

Martin Mignot is a principal at Index. David Smadja, Anthony Serero, Simon Amzalag and Julia Serero are co-founders of Rad.
