Isai et al. in $1.6m round for CodinGame
CodinGame, a French gaming platform for programmers, has raised $1.6m from VC Isai and several of its existing backers.
Isai's contribution to the round was not revealed, but the VC has provided an average of €750,000-2m in post-seed capital with its latest funds. Its most recent fund is Isai Venture II, which broke its €35m target when a €55m first close was announced in April.
Investing alongside Isai were entrepreneurs from the Seed4Soft accelerator, as well as Nestadio Capital. These backers became shareholders in CodinGame after injecting a combined €450,000 into the business in February 2013, 10 months after inception.
At the time, CodinGame's backers stated the funds would speed up its expansion worldwide. The business claims its coding learning app has been used by more than 230,000 developers across 160 countries since then, with the US as the leading market.
The company now intends to hit the 1 million user mark within the next 12 months as funds are invested to improve its software.

Founded in March 2012, CodinGame runs an interactive app used by developers to learn programming through gaming and visualisation. Its users focus on one out of more than 20 programming languages as they make their way through four difficulty levels.
Since foundation, the company claims to have grown its customer base to more than 230,000 individual developers and 500 employers. With headquarters in Montpellier, the business intends to set up offices in San Francisco in the future.
