Litorina-backed Fresks acquires Urban Strålin Byggvaror
Swedish building material retail chain Fresks Group, acquired by Litorina in 2016, has bought competitor Urban Strålin Byggvaror.
The previous Urban Strålin Byggvaror owners, Kay and Leo Strålin, will reinvest a significant part of the proceeds from the transaction in Fresks. Kay Strålin will remain CEO of Urban Strålin Byggvaror.
After the acquisition, Fresks will have a total of 31 stores with combined revenues of approximately SEK 2bn and around 500 employees.
Previous funding
Litorina bought into Fresks in January 2016 through the GP's 2010-vintage Litorina IV, a SEK 2.525bn fund focused on the Swedish small-cap sector and mid-market.
Company
Established in 1978, Urban Strålin Byggvaror operates four building material stores in the Västra Götaland and Jönköping counties. The company employs a staff of 40 and posts a turnover of around SEK 240m.
