GIC invests in EQT-backed NAC
Nordic Aviation Capital (NAC), a Danish aircraft lessor backed by Swedish private equity firm EQT, announced that GIC is to become a significant minority investor.
Bringing in a new investor will enable NAC to continue its consolidation strategy as well as further strengthen its commercial and financial position in the market.
The GP has invested in NAC via its fund EQT VI, which will remain the largest shareholder and continues to support NAC in its growth strategy.
Since the partnership in 2015 between Martin Møller and EQT VI, NAC has transformed from being a lessor focused on turboprop aircraft into a regional aircraft lessor and commercial aircraft leasing company.
Kirkbi Invest, an investor in EQT's Fund VI, co-invested in Nordic Aviation alongside the GP at the time of the original buyout and will continue to co-invest in NAC alongside the fund.
Previous funding
EQT acquired a majority stake in Nordic Aviation Capital in a deal that valued the business at $3.3bn in August 2015. Nordic Aviation's chairperson and founder, Martin Møller, continued to chair the business and remained a significant shareholder, contributing around 50% of the capital.
Company
Established in 1990 and headquartered in Billund, Denmark, Nordic Aviation is an aircraft leasing company specialising in turboprop aircraft leasing. It comprises a fleet of 468 regional aircraft.
