IVP leads $40m series-B for Aiven
US-based investor IVP has led a $40m series-B funding round for cloud data software developer Aiven.
Also participating in the round were existing investors Earlybird Venture Capital and Lifeline Ventures, as well as the family offices of Risto Siilasmaa, chairman of Nokia, and Olivier Pomel, founder of Datadog.
IVP general partner Eric Liaw will join Aiven's board of directors as part of the transaction.
The fresh capital will go towards expanding the company's presence in the US and adding new open source technologies to the platform.
In 2019, Aiven tripled its revenue run rate, added 200 new customers, doubled headcount and opened two new offices in Berlin and Sydney, according to a statement.

Lifeline Ventures led a $1m funding round with participation from angel investors in 2017.
Earlybird led an €8m funding round in May 2019, with participation from Aiven's existing investors.
