CapMan Growth, Mandatum Private Equity invest in Sofigate
Private equity firms CapMan Growth and Mandatum Private Equity have acquired minority stakes in Sofigate, a business technology transformation company.
In addition to the GPs, the company is owned by Finnish insurance and investment services Lähi Tapiola, the company's founders, and its employees. Following the latest deal, institutional investors now own a little less than one fifth of Sofigate.
CapMan held a final close for its second growth fund on €97m in November 2020. Including Sofigate, the fund has so far made three investments, having previously acquired minority stakes in Finnish companies DSP Neural and Unikie. The vehicle targets growth-stage companies with turnovers of €5-100m, and typically provides equity tickets of €3-20m.
The GP said in a statement that in the last five years, the company had increased its turnover fivefold to €100m and that maintaining a similar growth rate required both rapid organic growth and acquisitions. The company is aiming to achieve an annual turnover of €500m by 2025.
Company
Founded in 2003 and based in Espoo, Sofigate is an IT management service. It generates a turnover of €100m and employs 600 staff.
