Verdane invests in Qbtech, Topro via impact fund
Specialist technology GP Verdane has made two investments via its debut EUR 300m impact fund, backing ADHD test maker Qbtech and mobility aid manufacturer Topro.
The fund, Verdane Idun I, closed in January 2022 at EUR 300m, aiming to make investments in energy transition, sustainable consumption, and resilient communities.
Qbtech said in a statement that Verdane's investment would support growth through new technologies, new customer segments, and significant expansion in existing markets.
Topro, based in Norway, has been fully owned by local investor Serendipity Partners since March 2022, after the GP bought out state-owned minority partner Investinor. Both parties acquired Topro in a carve-out from local authorities in January 2018.
Verdane's Idun fund is classed as "Article 9" under the European Union's Finance Disclosure Regulation. Its other investments to date include electric vehicle charger EVA Global, and workplace mental health software developer Auntie Solutions.
Company
Founded in 2002, Qbtech is a privately-owned Swedish maker of tests for ADHD symptoms, working with specialists in 13 countries across Europe and the US.
Topro is one of the largest manufacturers of rollators with its core markets including Norway, Germany, and the Benelux countries, and has annual sales of around NOK 300m (EUR 32m). It was founded in 1966, according to LinkedIn.
