
Shipbeat raises $1.6m in seed round
Denmark-based Sunstone Capital, Seed Capital and former JustEat CEO Klaes Nyengaard have invested $1.6m in a seed round for Danish logistics software developer Shipbeat.
The company's founders will retain a majority stake following the deal, which sees Sunstone's Max Niederhofer and Seed Capital's Helle Uth step into the Shipbeat board.
The fresh capital will be used to fund further expansion of Shipbeat's product – a shipping application programming interface for small and medium e-commerce businesses – as well as hiring new staff and integrating key e-commerce software.
Seed Capital investment manager Helle Uth told unquote" that the company will focus on growing globally in the future, mentioning Asia as a potentially lucrative market due to the fractured nature of its logisitics sector.
The company is currently going through beta testing in its home country of Denmark and plans to fully launch internationally in 2015, according to Uth, who said Shipbeat plans to add further customers to its testing phase before launching.
The board and founders are currently looking to add further members to the board who can bring expertise to help grow the business.

Shipbeat is a software developer focusing on shipping solutions for e-commerce SMEs. Based in Copenhagen, the company was founded by the former CTO and the former lead developer and software architect of online fashion retailer Miinto.
