Zmags A/S (Denmark) - Nov 2007

NorthCap Partners has injected $2.3m in Zmags, a Copenhagen-based online publications specialist, for a stake of just above 30%. The investor was attracted to the deal because of the company’s management team and the business’ positive development since inception. Growth in the market for digital media, mainly driven by ecommerce and more efficient distribution structures for online publications, also acted as incentives to invest. There is strong competition among online publications companies in Denmark and these are leading in the area. International competition in the market is still moderate however and the investor believes the business has good potential on a worldwide basis. The financing round enables further product development and international expansion.

Company

Zmags has developed software called SaaS, which enables printed publications to be presented online. It has 700 customer including Microsoft, IKEA and 3M among others. The business was founded in 2005, has sales offices in London and Ottawa, and employs 34 people.

People

Jesper Scharling Sørensen of NorthCap Partners has been involved in the transaction and will join the board. Jens Karstoft is the CEO of Zmags.
