Arcano Impact Private Equity Fund raises €200m
Arcano Impact Private Equity Fund (AIPEF), a private equity fund-of-funds dedicated to impact investing, has raised more than €200m.
The fund was launched in March 2020 by Arcano Asset Management, which is part of Arcano Partners, with a €300m target. It plans to achieve a 12% IRR and a 1.8-2x return on capital.
AIPEF has completed 10 transactions to date, including both primary fund investments and direct co-investments in companies across the health and wellness, life sciences, education, and energy transition sectors.
"We are putting together a portfolio of assets that combines the generation of attractive returns with the social and environmental objectives demanded by our clients and society," said Ricardo Miró Quesada, partner and head of private equity at Arcano Partners.
AIPEF invests in funds and companies that are promoting and contributing to the United Nation's Sustainable Development Goals, with a focus on pursuing environmental transition, solving environmental and social issues, and developing solutions to address global challenges, while generating private equity risk-adjusted returns.
The vehicle targets European and US mid-market funds, and focuses on primary deals, while considering opportunistic secondary investments and co-investments. It deploys around €10-20m per deal and expects to target a total of 12-15 funds.
AIPEF is building an investor base composed of Spanish and international institutional investors and private banks.
Arcano Partners specialises in alternative asset management and investment banking. Since its inception in 2006, the firm has managed around €7bn in assets across private equity, credit strategies, real estate, sustainable infrastructure, venture capital, and capital finance.
The firm employs a staff of more than 200 professionals across its offices located in Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Seville, New York and Los Angeles.
