ArchiMed circulates teasers for Bomi auction
Private equity firm ArchiMed has launched a sale process for Italian logistics company Bomi, four sources familiar with the situation said.
Teasers are circulating among prospective bidders, which include a mix of private equity firms, infrastructure funds and industry players, the sources said.
Although the timing of first-round bids has not been decided yet, they are likely to be due by the beginning of April, one of the sources said.
Bomi will be marketed off EUR 40m in 2022 EBITDA, including its latest acquisitions, completed last year, another source said. It generated EUR 27m EBITDA on EUR 160m revenue in 2020, as reported by Unquote's sister publication Mergermarket.
Last year, healthcare sector-focused Bomi acquired Spain-based Picking Farma, which provides logistics solutions to the pharmaceutical, veterinary and cosmetics sectors; Brazil-based Line Express and ALX, which offers air transport services for pharmaceutical products; and Italian Autotrasporti Gigliotti-Bergamin, which specialises in temperature-controlled transportation.
Bomi could attract interest from infrastructure investors like Icon Infrastructure, Ardian and Italmobiliare, two of the sources said, adding that Bomi could also be a good acquisition for Tikehau Capital or Intermediate Capital Group, which have been looking at the logistics sector.
Tikehau announced its acquisition of French logistics company Sterne late last year, and ICG bought a UK storage and logistics site in October, as reported in local press.
Portuguese fund TIIC is on the lookout for opportunities in this space and could be a logical bidder for Bomi, two of the sources said.
Bomi, ArchiMed, TIIC and Morgan Stanley declined to comment.
Mergermarket reported in December that sponsor ArchiMed had hired Morgan Stanley to sell the Italian logistics company serving the healthcare sector.
ArchiMed acquired Bomi in 2019, advised by Equita SIM, KPMG and lawyers Gianni Origoni Grippo Cappelli & Partners, while Bomi was advised by law firm Simmons & Simmons, per the Mergermarket database.
Established in 1985, Bomi provides transport, warehousing and supply-chain management services for healthcare companies ranging from pharmaceutical and medical equipment manufacturers to hospitals, testing laboratories and outpatient service providers.
